Hello I am MIKAELA..
NYC Resident - Maryland Native.
I am a lover of all things beautiful (art + design+ products) and a scholar of life. My educational background inspires a multidisciplinary approach where understanding human behavior is the basis for branding and creative decision making. I am a M.B.A. graduate of LIM college with a focus on fashion management and entrepreneurship. I earned my B.A. in psychology from Hampton University.
I grew up in a large, female dominated family where beauty and fashion is akin to breathing. Every product imaginable could be found in the homes, purses, and cars of my relatives--old and young. I've spent hours sampling creams and tonics; spraying myself with fragrances till I reeked with the mixture of scents.. I've experimented with their products in my hair and I secretly swatched & tried on their cosmetics -- repairing a broken lipstick was a skill I gained early. (Yikes!) It is no wonder that I now work in the beauty industry, a natural progression honestly.. For a living I orchestrate the development and marketing of beauty products in hair-care, skin care, fragrance, and color cosmetics.
Now I get to try as try as many as I please!
As a Marketing & Product development professional my joy comes from seeing a product come to life: from concept to the shelf. I love the ideation and research-- being able to imagine what products could be and discovering the rationale behind why people would love, need, and want them. I go "ga-ga" for design whether it is presentation decks, promotional collateral, or packaging. Lastly, I get great fulfillment from seeing people love the finished products we make while they shop in store.
In my spare time you can find me trying new recipes or making those old faithful Trinidadian dishes, dancing around somewhere blasting music and creating in all different kinds of mediums: creative writing, graphic design, painting, crocheting, mixed media art , and up-cycling thrifted treasures.
